I love living in a place where we can hike through green forests year round. Today's adventure: West Tiger Mountain Trail #3. Short (5 miles r/t) but mighty, with 2000 feet of elevation gain and lots of other hikers on the trail. I only complained a little, and was rewarded with misty forests and fearless grey jays eager to share our cashews. Emails like this are my Monday motivation: "My husband Bill (63 yrs) picked up your book Walking to the End of the World and began reading. Now that might not seem like any big deal, but this man never buys books. I mean never...He has never opened a travel book or read a novel about a destination--I am the person who wants to read as much as I can for context and history. So imagine my surprise when he came home with a BOOK. I asked him what motivated this, and he said, "It's about the Camino, and the first part they are in France. It looked interesting." We plan to walk a part of the Camino in 2020 and have traveled throughout France. I still thought hmmmm. "Currently he is about halfway through the book and talks about you and Eric like you are his friends. "Today Beth and Eric are in..." "Beth was not impressed with the wine spout as -- but she admits she was having an off day," etc. "I wanted you to know that from my perspective this speaks volumes for your ability as a storyteller and to engage a reader.
